The Cricketing Extravaganza has begun!

Yup. The time is here again ! The biggest sporting event of Cricket is here. And this time it's here in the sub-continent, that is going to be the witness of all the hot sporting action and events.

The 10th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup is being jointly held by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, beginning from 19th February. With 14 participating teams, some of which only come into the picture of the World Cup, will be in the race for the coveted title of the World Champions. And this time, it makes all the more interesting because, experts say that such an open World Cup is being held after a long time. There are more than one team that are being taken in as the favorites to win the cup and also the team statistics and their performances also cement these views.

And this time, there is a slight change in the format of the game too. Earlier versions of the game had featured the Super Six or Super Eight stage after the League match stages. But this time, it has been changed to a general format which is prominent in other sports also. The 14 teams have been divided into 2 groups, comprising of 7 teams each. After the League stages, the top 4 teams will progress into the Quarter Finals. And the knock-out begins in the Quarter Final Stages only.  So there isn't the fear of losing out completely on the title, even if one or two games become an upset. Hence, it becomes an open competition altogether.

So with the fever begun and couple of matches over, the standards of the various teams has already been seen. There was a India vs Bangladesh match that had offered a blistering start to the event. And then there was the Sri Lanka vs Canada match yesterday. All has begun well. And all the fever is getting on the nerves of cricketing fans all across the world. So all the sporting action, is beginning to get heated ! The coming one month of all cricketing!

Congratulations to Sachin!

And after a wait of 369 days, the day has finally come! March 16, 2012 will go down in the history books as the day when the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar reached the almost unrepeatable milestone of 100 International Centuries in the Game of Cricket. This particular century had garnered a lot of attention, especially since it was the 100th one. And also because it took such a long time. Possibly the most Sachin has taken between centuries before. But as we say, all good things come with a wait, Sachin also had to sweat it out for 33 innings and then came this much-awaited century. It hasn't been easy for him at all, it's not that you by-default get a 100 if you reach a particular point. He had to strive for each and every run, even for the single after the 99. That's how the game is. Just merely because he is an expert in the game, doesn't make his work easy. It just makes others to consider it as easy for him. For him, each and every match, each and every inn...

Isn't it better to say it to the face?

It's a straight question. Isn't it better to say it right to the face ? I mean, there are various instances in our life, when we don't say things to people. We somehow manage to avoid the situation, or compromise that the situation is covered up. So that, we don't have to face awkward circumstances. But actually, shouldn't we be doing the opposite thing ? In this new age, with means of communication moving into various realms, it has become possible to express yourself in easier ways, than meeting the person, and saying it to the them directly. And definitely, all persons, prefer the better versions of communication, since it doesn't involve so much of embarrassment. When you are texting the person about your anger, your frustrations. The reason for this is the recent incident that I came across. Two friends - staying in touch all the time, meet in person after a long time. But due to some complexes, one was upset with the other. And naturally, when they...

Vicious Circle of Survival of the Fittest

It's one of the famous theories existing in the world. The one part of the evolutionary theory proposed by Charles Darwin, which we all have learnt in school - "Survival of the fittest". Along the years of human evolution, the above said principle has seen to be followed by us as a species. And it is very evident in other species as well. The strong and the healthy ones, survive the competition and progress further in time. The ones who are weak, perish and the cycle repeats for numerous number of times. It might have been repeating for millions of years! Once one-sided, but it returns back! When we reflect on our society, we see the very repercussions of this theory in it. People have been evolving as civilizations along many years, and there have been remarkable changes in our societies as well. But as we should see two sides of everything, there are two sections of people, one which is very well off in their lives, and another section which is not at all so. P...
